Do you want to become a licensed teacher in K-12 schools? Chemeketa Community College can support you in meeting your goals.
Chemeketa is committed to diversifying our educator workforce through several programs that support our diverse and non-traditional students to become licensed teachers. Through these programs, we provide individualized support for education students with flexible pathways that allow students to customize their learning experiences to meet their financial and academic needs.
To get started, get help with registering for classes, or to develop your education plan, please make an appointment with one of the education advisors listed in the Contact Info box.

- ODE GROW YOUR OWN TEACHING PATHWAY GRANTS
Students pursuing an education degree and school district employees are invited to apply for this tuition waiver funded by the Oregon Department of Education. Click on the ODE Grow Your Own Grant page for more information.

- BILINGUAL STUDENT TEACHER LEADERS PROGRAM

- NATIONAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANT
Bilingual education students are eligible beginning Winter term 2024 to apply for funding through our newest federal Project ABLE grant. This grant provides bilingual students working towards a teaching license with full tuition support through licensure for the next five years. If you are interested in this grant please contact our office for advising and program requirements.

EDUCATION TRANSFER DEGREE ADVISING GUIDES
When you complete Chemeketa’s specially-designed two-year transfer degree, you qualify to enter as a junior at most four-year Oregon universities.

To teach in Oregon's K-12 school system, you must be licensed and must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree. For specific information on teacher credentials, visit the Teachers Standards and Practices Commission.
