Chemeketa Child Development Center

Chemeketa's Early Childhood Education Program has operated the Child Development Center lab school on the Salem campus since 1972. The Child Development Center is open to families from the community as well as Chemeketa students, staff and faculty. We provide childcare for children ages 2.5 - 5, parent education and virtual learning and support. Additional subsidized services are available to eligible student parents through the CCAMPIS grant.

Lactation/Mother's Rooms
Access to the rooms can be different based on the location you attend. Please contact the front/information desk at your location for more information regarding access and to discuss specific needs. The campus map lists the designated rooms.

Title IX Office
Parenting students are encouraged to contact the Title IX office for guidance and/or support understanding their Title IX rights while in college. The Title IX Coordinator can be contacted at jon.mathis@chemeketa.edu or 503.584.7323.

Temporary emergency child care for first responders, healthcare workers, and other essential workers with children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. Relief Nursery offers therapeutic classrooms, home visits, parenting education, and case management for families with a child age 0-5. Quality and gently used children's clothing is available to families through their Clothes Closet for children from infant to age 5. Clothing Closet is only available for families in the Family Building Blocks program during COVID-19. Locations include Salem, Dallas, Woodburn, and Sublimity.

Relief nursery to support families with children ages 0-5 with specialized classrooms, parent education and home visitation. Locations are in McMinnville and Newberg. Emergency 3-day supply of diapers are offered each Thursday 10 AM-12 PM. Families are eligible once per month. Pick up locations is in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church 125 SE Cowls St., McMinnville, and Mary's Place/Joyful Servant Lutheran Church 1714 Villa Rd, Newberg. Oregon WIC (Women, Infants and Children)

WIC serves lower-income pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants and children under age 5 who have health or nutrition risks. In addition to supplemental food, WIC offers nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referrals to other public and private community resources. Applicants must meet four criteria to be eligible for WIC: 1. Live in Oregon. 2. Be a pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding woman, an infant or a child under 5 years old. 3. Have a household income less than 185% of the federal poverty limit. (Individuals who can prove Fully eligible for Medicaid/Oregon Health Plan, TANF, SNAP/Food Stamps or FDPIR are automatically income eligible for WIC.) 4. Have a nutritional need or risk.

Boys & Girls Club of Salem, Marion and Polk Counties provides a safe, engaging environment and programs for youth. Membership fees are $5 or $15, depending on age. Employment-Related Day Care helps eligible low-income families pay for child care while they are working. To be eligible, you must: Be an Oregon resident, employed with an income below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level, have qualifying children, need child care to remain employed, and use a child care provider that meets DHS requirements.
