Oregon Department of Education Grow Your Own Grant

Chemeketa Community College has been awarded a grant to help diversify our teaching workforce in Oregon.

The ODE Grow Your Own grant can help support students who are interested in educator pathways at Chemeketa through our educator certificates, apprenticeship programs, and teacher licensure transfer degrees.

Funding availability is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants must reapply for funds each term. If awarded a tuition waiver you will receive official notification before the end of the first week of the term. If you do not receive funding you will be responsible for all tuition and fees unless your course(s) are dropped before the deadline to receive a refund

Find out if you qualify for funding for this or any of our programs by completing the Funding Eligibility Form in the Apply Now box to the left.

For assistance or additional information contact the Education Program. We look forward to working with you to meet your goals to become an educator.

Who qualifies for the ODE GYO grant?

Diverse students (bilingual, first-generation, PELL eligible) who are pursuing a transfer degree (AAOT) in education, the CTE Teacher Certificate, or the Education Support Professional Certificate. (This grant covers tuition and universal fees only).

Bilingual students pursuing a transfer degree (AAOT) and majoring in education are eligible for additional funding if they participate in our Bilingual Teacher Student Leaders program. (This waiver covers tuition only).

School district employees working towards a teaching license and/or either a CTE Teacher Certificate or Education Support Professional Certificate are eligible for a tuition waiver for up to four credits each term. (This waiver covers tuition only). Anyone pursuing a CTE Teacher Certificate or Education Support Professional Certificate may be eligible for tuition support provided they do not have other resources already covering the cost of tuition.
